Bonus Comic That You May Not Understand / Find Funny
Sorry if you don't get it or, worse yet, get it and don't think it's funny. I think it's funny. Fortunately, the internet is relatively free, so reading it didn't cost you anything. Except precious seconds of your life that you'll never get back. This comic is best appreciated if you read it repeatedly. I'm going to do an installation where I paste 157 copies of this comic (one for every day of the college school year) on a wall at an art show, in order to represent the banalization of art through the curriculum. Okay, that's not really true at all.
Egon Schiele was an artist known for his contour line drawings and his distinct style. As such, whenever the project is to draw in the manner of a famous artist, the options are always something along the lines of Degas, Michaelangelo, Egon Schiele, and a couple of other people. If you've made it through about two art courses, you've probably made a picture in which you were forced (or chose) to bite his style. He's over-represented in art classes when compared to, say, his influence on the history of art as a whole. If you walk down a hall displaying art from Drawing I or II, or Beginning Life Drawing courses, try to pick out the pic most influenced by Schiele. It's there. His art is also quite easily adaptable/applicable to comic book-style art, and maintains similarities (a.k.a. visibly influenced) Frank Miller and others. Also, apparently The Frames made a song with lyrics inspired by him. Greg, you'll like that.
In retrospect, Erik and Corrin look a little too happy. I might edit the comic later to make them look slightly less happy.
Oh, and in the main comic? I totally had that conversation about Rap Music Sucks. In my defense, I was drinking at the time. I think I won the conversation.
