Guilty of Being Idealistic
I didn't mention it earlier (forgot) but I agree with the guy from Nothing Nice To Say on the stealing of Minor Threat's cover art. It's gross and against everything the band stands for and the only thing that could have possibly been as egregious of a co-opting of Minor Threat would have been if it were used by a liquor, cigarette, or meat-processing company. They picked one of the most ideological bands of all time and tried to cash in on it. As someone who once created something, I think it sucks ass.
Also, I think Fugazi is awesome and I really enjoy the local scene Ian MacKaye has created here in the District. On that note, Q&NOTU will be performing again in a month or so.

Ted Leo et al
Also, Julie of Okay Pants updated, and likes Ev's comic. She is Quite Awesome, as that comic demonstrates. (read it...)
Oh, saw Ted Leo and his Pharmacists last night. There's an interesting and somewhat surprising degree of rock that he brings to the stage. When you hear his songs on CD or mp3 (you thief, you) you think: "Peppy!" but when you see him on stage he rocks it like crazy and you realize how cool the songs really are. The wierd thing was watching how static his bassist acts on stage. Roommate and I had seen them at a smaller venue a few months ago and, thanks to the small stage and little room to move around, hadn't noticed. On the larger stage it became more obvious as Ted Leo moved wildly accross the stage in all differents sorts of rocking, but his bassist just moved forward and back. It ended up looking fairly cool, though, cause it made Ted Leo look even more rocking. If that makes sense.
Oh, and their cover of "Suspect Device" was ass-kicking.
